Keeping Faith in the Dream

Romans 1,2,3,4

Scripture:
Romans 4:19 And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. 20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. 22 And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

Observation:

Justification comes only through faith, and not works. Even those of the Old Testament were given grace because of the faith in God and His ways. The Law was a means for people to turn to God, but the Law could save no man. Only Jesus, who fulfilled the Law could offer salvation for the sins of mankind. Abraham sat with a promise and in the natural it seemed impossible, because of his age. Yet Abraham had faith in God and he trusted in the promise of God. He was weak in this flesh, but built himself up in faith, and he saw the promise of God fulfilled. Abraham did not waiver in his faith!

Application:

God has been speaking a lot to me on the call on my life and the visions He has shown me. They seem impossible in the natural, but in the spirit and in my heart they are as real as the chair I am sitting on. God calls me to have faith and to trust Him. To be guided by faith and not by sight. God will take care of all the doors that need to open and the steps that need to be taken. My role is to trust and to obey. To simply say yes Lord, and walk in His ways. I must guard myself from becoming distracted by the natural and the opinions of people. My eyes and ears need to be fixed on the Holy Spirit and His voice. I need to be like Abraham, focused in my faith and purpose. God knows my heart and faith level, and just Abraham, I need to add to it, and that comes through knowing the word of the Lord and His ways. Romans 10:17, "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God."

Prayer:

Father, thank You for calling me, for igniting a dream and a passion is me. I pray for faith today and for wisdom. Guide me in the steps You have ordained me to walk in. Help me discern Your will and Your ways. I pray for favor and the right doors to open. Close the doors that need to close. I pray for the right people and the right team. I pray for healing for my body today and for refreshing. Bless my wife and my home Lord, for we need Your provision. I pray for all the students of urgency and I ask You to bless them and to fill them with boldness and passion. Help them to live for You in this season of their lives. Bless my team and refresh them too. I thank You that my life is in the palm of Your hand. Amen.

God is Watching over me

Psalm 125, Matthew 26, 27

Scripture:
Psalm 125: 1 Those who trust in the LORD
Are like Mount Zion,
Which cannot be moved, but abides forever.
2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
So the LORD surrounds His people
From this time forth and forever.

Observation:
God watches over those who place their life in His hands. Those who have made a decision to follow Christ and have exchange their lives for His. They will not be shaken, they will stand the storms and move onto their destinies. God will go before them and watch over them. They will be like a mountain, not just any mountain, but like the mountain of God.

Application:
In this season of my life, I am learning to trust God and to wait on Him. God is watching over me and He is guiding my life. No good thing will e withhold from those who walk uprightly. My call is to follow and to live right before Him. God wants me to be like a mountain, solid, unshakable in my faith and devotion. Job was like this, he wrestled with the Lord, but never doubted. We live in a time where the world desires to see truth and men that walk uprightly in their calling and devotion. I know know God is sifting my heart in this season and He is pruning me, for there still are things that are not His in my heart. This of the flesh and desires that do not line up with Him. I know He is preparing me for some exciting things, but my heart must be right. I do not want my heart to disqualify me for what God has called me too. I desire to be that mountain, solid, focused and disciplined to the ways of the Lord.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for grace this morning and for the promises of Heaven. I thank You that You are watching over me and that You will never leave me nor forsake me. Thank you for molding me and for making me a better man of God. Remove from me the chaff and refine my heart. I pray for discipline in my life and for devotion. Guard my heart and my mouth. I pray today for wisdom, discernment and favor. I pray for the prophetic edge to see beyond the now and to clearly see the next steps. I pray for healing for my body today and i bind the flu that is trying to keep me down. Help me to heal up today. Bless my wife, our home and thank You for watching over us.
Amen.

Returning to the Basics

Matthew 20,21,22

Matthew 20:26 Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. 27 And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Matthew 21: 21 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done. 22 And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”

Matthew 22:37 Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

Observation:
Today's readings are all about refocusing for me, kind of like going back to what is important. Jesus reminds me that greatness comes through serving. In the world it is all about climbing the ladder, in the kingdom of God is is all about helping others and climbing down the ladder. Jesus teaches His disciples that faith is the key to doing the impossible, but He ends the passage with an important truth, prayer. Prayer is critical to faith, prayer is the homework of faith. Jesus breaks it all down in Matthew 22:37-40, keep God first, start everything out in life out of this passage and it will all work out. Keep relationships healthy.

Application:

This morning God reminded me of the basics. Sometimes it is so good to just stop and go back to the basics of Christian living. It is good to measure your heart against the things that are important to God. Servant-hood, faith & prayer, keeping God first and then others before yourself. I am challenged this morning to pray more. I feel like I'm in a season where i need clear direction and the word of the Lord. It is so easy to get confused in life and run to any light you see, but I must run to the light of God in my life. I believe God wants to elevate my faith and this will come through prayer and revelation. I cannot afford to let my prayer and word tie decrease, not in this season. This morning I too am reminded that God loves me. There is no greater love than God, and He is watching over me and He will work things out for me. I must keep Him first and this morning I feel the joy of being His invading my heart. I am resting in His love and His peace this morning. I must guard my heart and walk in His grace. God has plans for me, but the plans are never bigger than my relationship with Him. I declare today, 'I love You Lord!' Thank You for Your love for me, for Your forgiveness and mercy. Thank You for walking with me and for holding me and for carrying me. I'm Yours!

Prayer:
Father thank You for grace today and for realigning my heart to Your will. Thank You for the honor of serving You and for being Your mouth piece to this world. Lord refine me and speak to me. Let me know Your will and Your plans today. I pray for peace and rest over the next few days. speak a fresh revelation to me. Bless my home, my wife and our finances. Thank You for always providing.
Amen.

The Kingdom

Matthew 5,6,7

Scripture:

Matthew 6:8 “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. 9 In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.

Matthew 6:32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Observation:
Jesus talks a lot about the kingdom of God and seeking the kingdom. In the Lord's prayer He tells us to pray the kingdom of God into our daily life's. Then He instructs us to let worry go and to seek the kingdom of God, for god knows our needs and He will work it out. Solitude, Obedience, Righteousness, Faith, Prayer, Discipline are all words that jump out at me. God knows my needs and He has a plan for my life. The book of Isaiah declares that His ways are higher than my, His dreams higher than mine. I cannot out dream God, I cannot ascend to my destiny without Him, i will always come short.

Application:

I am reminded this morning that there are things waiting for me in the Spirit Realm, to the 'Kingdom Realm.' Jesus instructs me to pray the things of the kingdom into my life. The needs of life will always try and distract my vision and energy from God. They will always try to minimize my faith and divert me from God's best. The windows of heaven are open, but by faith I must activate and call those things into being. Paul says that everything in the natural came out of the spiritual. God is spirit and I am called to worship and believe in the spirit. I know God has big plans for my life and each and every day is an opportunity to get closer to what He has called me to do. I do not want to miss out on what He has for me today. May I focus more and discipline myself to seek more the kingdom of god today.

Prayer:

Father I thank You for the kingdom of God and for making me a part of it. I thank You that all of heaven is waiting on me and that through prayer and faith I activate the things of the kingdom in my life. I pray today as Jesus taught me to pray, "Your kingdom come, Your will be done," in my life today. Draw me closer to Your will and to Your way. Protect me and watch over me Holy Spirit. Guide me in the steps of the Father today, Holy Spirit. I pray for wisdom, discernment and favor. I pray for tonight's message and I ask You to give me Your word. I pray for those coming that You begin to stir their hearts. I pray for those hesitating to come and I ask You to draw them in. May tonight bring glory to Your Name. Bless my wife today, anoint her and refresh her. Be with Sal and anoint him, guide him and may he come to know You. Be with Chris tonight and give him favor in all he does. Be with my friend Josh and continue to raise him up. Thank You for all you are doing in my life. I pray for my ears to be open to hear.
Amen.

Identity in what He says!

Matthew 1,2,3,4

Scripture:
Matthew 4:1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

Matthew 4:3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

Observation:
This passage today speaks to me mostly on identity. The devil loves to attack the identity of men, but i learn do much from how Jesus responded to this challenge. The first thing Jesus did before He faced temptation is that He sought out the Holy Spirit. He was led by the Spirit into the desert. It is not that we will not be challenged or tempted, it is whether we are with the Holy Spirit or not? The Holy Spirit will guide us through any temptation or challenge. Jesus knew He was the son of God, the question the devil asked was stupid, but he though he could trip Jesus up because His flesh was hungry. Jesus response is a model for us all, He responds with "it is written!" He basically said, "Devil, you know what the God, the Almighty has said!" There is no one above Him and what He says is final! Jesus identity was given to Him by His Father, and He knew what His Father said.

Application:
I'm going to be looked down on, criticized, judged, seen as the least likely to make it by many, but at the end of it I know this, "God told me I would!" He told me when I was 13, 16, 19, 21! He laid the vision out clearly, and no matter what men say, what the devil says, it has been spoken and i believe what my Father says! What He says is final. I must be led by the Holy Spirit so that i do not fall into the game of questioning what God told me. My identity is hidden in Christ as Paul declares. I must be led by the Spirit. I need not proof myself, seek men's recognition or praise, for all of heaven says I am called, chosen, appointed and anointed. I stand today by the grace, mercy and power of the Holy Spirit. My life is His and I walk each day in the steps He has called me too.

Prayer:
Father thank You for the promises and words You have spoken over me. I thank You for the identity which You have given me and are working in me. I thank You for the precious Holy Spirit, where would i be without You Holy Spirit, surely lost! I pray today that You would lead me in this season. I ask for clarity, wisdom and favor. I pray for discernment and the right doors to open. I pray for armor bearers, and for a team that moves mountains. God I pray for restoration, multiplication and elevation. Lord thank You for all You are doing and working for us. I pray for blessing on my wife, hoe, finances and health. Thank You that no good thing do You with hold from men that walk uprightly. Lord lead me today, Amen.

Freedom and Light

2 Corinthians 3, 4,5,6

Scripture:
2 Corinthians 3:16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Observation:
I love this passage it is a great reminder of how we are to live and shine in this world. The world is seeking freedom, freedom from pain, disappointment, a broken marriage, an addiction, financial crisis, unforgiveness etc, etc. We are called to live in the freedom of God and to become like Christ, to that the world would see Him in us and desire the gift of salvation. Sad to say, but to often the church is full of rules and critics, and before people can belong they must believe in the institute and laws. This puts people off, because they want freedom, not more laws. I'm amazed at how Jesus so often dealt with the heart and not all the laws that were being broken.

Application:

As a pastor I must balance the laws of God with the freedom of salvation. There is a tension in place and it all deals with the heart. I have freedom, but at the same time I am called to be a servant of Christ. A lot of Christians want freedom, but not the responsibility of that freedom. The truth is that when one fully grasp's the freedom of God, it motivates you to a live of devotion to God. You want to live for Him, you want to please Him with your lifestyle, you want to be a part of His plans and purposes. Your life has value and meaning and it is all about serving others. I want to be more like Jesus! I want my life to point the lost to Him. i want the world to see that being a Christ follower brings true freedom, joy and love. I want the world to see that I'm not perfect, just forgiven and adopted. I pray that my attitude, my motives, my lifestyle would reflect that of my God.

Prayer:
Lord use my life today as a testimony of Your freedom and love. Holy Spirit guide me today and give me the discernment to know the will of the Father. Jesus thank You for the freedom You have given me. I pray that I would become more like You in attitude and heart. Forgive me for selfishness, pride and for all my sins. I thank You for washing me clean this morning and for renewing my mind. I ask You to go before me today and to lead me in the steps You have called me to. I pray for my wife today and I ask You to bless her and to favor her in her music. Only You can open doors that no man can and I ask You to do that. Keep our hearts and minds fixed on You. May we shine today for You in a dark world. Thank You for blessings, thank You for the call to Nations. May we be alight today. Amen.

The Motivation - LOVE

Job 39; Job 40; 1 Corinthians 13; 1 Corinthians 14

Scripture:
1 Corinthians 13:1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Observation:
Paul reminds us that the spiritual gifts are important and required but the without love as the motivation they are meaningless. It is sad to say but I see a lack of genuine love in the church today. I see a lot of flash and a lot of hype, but the love that comes from the Father is too often missing in the lives of many leaders int he church. Jesus did many miracles and we read in scripture how many times it states Jesus moved by compassion performed a miracle. The writers must have seen a display of compassion, maybe groaning or tears, or sincerity, or taking the time to stop and listen. I'm not sure what it looked like, but I bet He always had time for the hurting and needy. Without love, it means nothing!

Application:
I'm glad that God has put leaders in my life that have modeled love. I think of Ps. Wayne Cordeiro, Ps. Phil Dooley, Ps. Gary Rodriguez; Ps. Dick Bernal; Ps. Larry Albertson, all these and many more have always gone the extra mile to love people. I'm learning that to be a leader is not always about your gifts, but all about your heart and the fact that you care. I want to be known as a leader that loved, that was moved by compassion and that always went out of his way. I don't want to get caught up int he hype and the flashiness of church. I don't want to be one that is untouchable, always eating in expensive restaurants, driving nice cars, all those are okay, but I never want to miss a meal with the homeless, or drive in a beat up car in Mexico with a Pastor on the way to speak to 10 people in a shack. I am blessed today that the Holy Spirit is guarding my heart, my ears must always be open and when He says watch out, I must be on guard. I cannot afford to let trash into my heart. I cannot afford to let greed, money, status, image rob me from God's best. The world needs leaders of compassion, may I be one o them.

Prayer:

Thank You Jesus for the example You showed me of a lifestyle of compassion and humility. I thank You today for the incredible leaders You have put in my life. I am humbled today to be Your servant, for i know Jesus You had compassion on me. You gave Your life for my sins so that I could become a child of God. I thank You for this new day and I pray for opportunities to show Your love to this world. I pray for urgency tonight and I pray for breakthrough's. Help me to know Your will and Your ways. Help me to wlak in love and discernment. I pray for ministry angels and warfare angels to bring breakthrough's. Bring healing Holy Spirit, bring a fresh touch. I ask for favor today. I pray for restoration, elevation and multiplication. I pray for Chris today and ask You to give him wisdom, discernment and favor. I pray You refresh him and bring that healing into his life. I pray for my wife and the vision You have given her, guard her heart and teach her to shine in a world that is so dark. Open the doors for her and may she run like never before. Make her Your mouth peace. Father thank You for today, I love and live for You. Amen.

Sensitivity to those around me

Job 35, 36; 1 Corinthians 7,8

Scripture:
1 Corinthians 8: 9Be careful, however, that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak.

Observation:
Paul was instructing the church of Corinth to guard their lifestyle and to watch out from becoming stumbling blocks to those around them. They lived in a city where culture, art's modernization was huge, yet idol worship still continued. Christianity was the new belief in the city, as as the new faith, the church had to be wise and a witness to those around them.

Application:
There is a fine balance between doing whatever you want and being a testimony. It is so easy to cause others to stumble. A simple argument with your wife over milk in the grocery store, to watching your favorite actor in a action R-Rated film, to being pulled over in the evening for speeding, to eating at an expensive restaurant, to driving a nice car. Simple things that to you have no me have no true meaning but to others can be seen as a stumbling block. God has not called me to follow Him walking on egg shells, but He has given me the Holy Spirit to warn me when I might be offending or causing someone to stumble. Discernment is crucial to any leader. The Holy Spirit will keep me in check and guard my heart. That is why prayer and devotions are so critical in my life. I need to stay in tune with the Holy Spirit and obey when He places a check in my heart. I am not perfect, but humility and sensitivity to those around me, will take me far.

Prayer:
Lord thank You for the Holy Spirit in my life and for the blessing of not walking alone. I pray for wisdom and discernment to know Your will and Your ways. I pray for favor today and wisdom to make the right choices. Give me the ability to lead like Jesus today. Bless my team and refresh us. Holy Spirit I ask You to guide me and to help me to pick up when I'm causing others to stumble. I know I will never make everyone happy, but I pray that through You I will point many to Jesus. Bless my wife today and all her ventures. Bless my friend Josh and his family, bless my parents and family back home and watch over them. Thank You for a new day and for washing me clean through your grace and mercy.
Amen.

Powerful Words

Job 25, Mark 13,14

Scripture:
Mark 13:10And the gospel must first be preached to all nations.

Mark 14: 35 Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from him. 36"Abba, Father," he said, "everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will."

Observation:
In Mark 14:25 we read some of the most committed words ever spoken out of sacrifice, love and purpose. Jesus is preparing for the crucifixion, where He will die an horrible unjust death for all of mankind. The innocent lamb slayed for the sin's of all. The words remind me this morning of the incredible pain and torture He would go through. The fact is that my sin took Him through this! In Mark 13:10, the nations speak to me. God has called us to reach the nations and to deliver the good news to all.

Application:
I am called to the nations and I do not know how it is going to happen, but I believe God has spoken it and He will work it out. I have the passion, the vision and the gifts, I feel equipped but there is still a lot to learn and the timing is at hand, but i must still be patient and keep my heart right. I feel a new authority on me, I felt it break last week and it was birthed in my spirit. For now I step into it, it is new, like where a new pair of shoes, still a little weird, but i felt it when i preached on Sunday. I'm excited, I believe and i speak to the vision today and call it into being.

Prayer:
Father, I thank You for all You are doing in my life and for the incredible calling You have given me. I know that I am only worthy because of the incredible gift of Jesus. Without him I would have nothing. I stand before You today, humbled, but excited like a kid in a toy store. I pray today for wisdom, for favor, for clarity and for protection. Guard my heart, my tongue, my mind and my heart. Restore unto me the joy of my salvation. I thank You today for all You are doing and for all the plans You have for me. I speak to the nations, hear the word of the Lord. Father guide me today and show me the way in which to hear. Holy Spirit speak to me. I pray for restoration, elevation and multiplication in my life and my wife.
amen.

Pray + Believe = Results

Job 23,24; Mark 11,12

Scripture:
Mark 11:24Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."

Observation:

Faith! Jesus tells us that if we believe, we will see what we believe come to pass! What do I see? What am I believing for? Jesus is very clear, believe and you will see, you will see mountains cast into the sea! Nothing is impossible for God, we need to believe in Who He is and what He can do.

Application:

I kicked of a new series yesterday called 'Breakthrough Generation.' I was so touched by the spirit relating to the recent rape of the student in Richmond. I was shocked at the desensitization of the students, I mean how could students just watch and take photo's and video's while a peer was being raped and beaten. Jesus declares in Mark that the world is like a sheep without a shepherd. We need a generation to rise up and be counted for God. It starts with me, i never preach something I not willing to live. I want to lead a 'Breakthrough Generation!' I know it will take faith. I see that generation before me, I hear God telling me to prophecy to them, to awake them and to lead them. I believe that God is about to do something amazing. I believe that God is about to move mighty upon me and Cindy. We are dreaming crazy dreams, but it is time! We need a breakthrough generation. I stand today, and I declare, "I believe!"

Prayer:
Father, thank You for the power of the prayer and for the open heaven You have given me. I pray today for the power of the Holy Spirit to touch my life and the lives of the youth at urgency. I bind the spirit of evil one of the youth of the valley. I thank You for the authority You have given me and i step out in it. I pray for miracles and for the revival of the Youth. I pray today for wisdom and discernment and faith. Lord break through the pain, the brokenness and stir up a revival. I thank You for every person that has been invited and I pray angels that you would bring them and do warfare on their behalf. Lord I pray for a harvest! I pray for healing and breakthrough! I pray for a touch and for a revival. Father I am ready! I'm Yours. Thank You for Your grace, mercy and patience! I love You.
amen.
