Job 9,10; Acts 13,14
Scripture:
Job 9: 2 "Indeed, I know that this is true.
But how can a mortal be righteous before God?
Observation:
What a great question and powerful truth. How can man stand before a Holy God, Who has no sin and in Who's presence sin cannot stand. This was a powerful question back in Old Testament times. Job knew the Holiness of God, the Power of His presence and His wrath. These are so often lost in today's generation. Why? Because we know the answer to the question. We know that Jesus is the reason we can stand before God. Jesus paid the price for our righteousness and forgiveness of our sins. We can boldly enter the presence of God. But then can we really? Can we really enter the presence of God that easily?
Application:
As I reflect this morning on this passage, i feel a lot like Job. I realize that God is holy and to often I forget that. I know the answer is Jesus and i know what He has done for me, but sometimes I forget that repentance means to turn around, change your mind and walk away. It is so easy to forget the holiness of God and take for granted the price Jesus paid for my adoption into the family of God. I can so easily think that I can just walk into the presence of God even with a lifestyle that truly is not righteous. I see so many people who live unappreciative of God's incredible gift. They command God to do things and expect it because they are 'righteous'. How often have I been the same? Sad to say many times. I stand today blessed, honored, humbled by the truth that I can come to God and talk with Him all by the blood of Jesus. I am humbled, I cannot understand why He is so good to me. He truly is amazing and I am convicted of my sin and my selfishness. Praise God for forgiveness and mercy today.
Prayer:
God forgive me today for taking the gift of Your presence for granted. I pray for holiness in my life and for righteousness to grow in my life. I am humbled today at the way I so often treat the blood of Christ over my life. Lord stir up in me holiness. Stir up in me humility and a greater appreciation for Jesus. Jesus I thank You for dying on the cross for me and for laying down Your life for my life. I pray for a renewing of my mind and my heart. I pray for wisdom today and for favor. I pray that I would walk out the steps You have for me today. I pray for our leaders meeting today and ask You to bless it. Refresh all our leader at Jubilee. Bless our students today and I pray for favor on the Thunder events at Jubilee. I pray for our students and ask You to fill them with boldness to invite their friends.
Amen.
