Zechariah 7; Zechariah 8; Zechariah 9; Luke 13
Scripture:
Zechariah 8 1 Again the word of the LORD Almighty came to me. 2 This is what the LORD Almighty says: "I am very jealous for Zion; I am burning with jealousy for her."
Observation:
This theme of ‘jealousy’, which God reveals through scripture towards us, is one that has stood out for me. In Deuteronomy 6, God declares that we are not to worship others gods, for He is a jealous God. He seeks only our devotion, and our hearts to be set like flint towards Him. His jealousy is righteous, and shows a commitment and devotion towards us. How incredible it is for a Holy God, to show such love to a sinful people like us.
Application:
This morning I am reminded of the incredible salvation and gift of grace I have been showed the through cross of Christ. I have become a child of God, a son of the Most High, even now in the midst of my sin and consistent selfishness, He still loves and blesses me. What can be said, simply that there is none like God! God is my God and none compares to Him. Today I am challenged to set my heart more on Him. I am in a good season today, I feel a greater sensitivity to His will and a new purity in my heart. I sense the Holy Spirit doing a deep transformation in my heart. I know He is preparing me for deeper things. I sense a new hunger, a new level of faith and boldness. I know it is me and Him, alone. I must walk the steps before me and pay the price of obedience required. I have waited a long time for this new season. I feel like a man who has laid it all down. It feels good to be here.
Prayer:
Father thank You for Your love. Thank You for Your faithfulness and goodness towards me. I pray for wisdom and discernment today. Lead me in the steps You have for me today. I pray for favor and anointing. I pray for fresh revelation and divine appointments. Thank You Shepherd for leading me today. I pray that my heart would be open and obedient to what You say to me. I am Yours and Yours alone. Thank You for the door that is about to open and the new season of fruitfulness. I pray for urgency today and ask You to bless it. I pray for revival in our youth and leaders. I pray a spirit of humility and devotion in our lives. Father make us a light in the valley for Your glory. I pray for Pastor Dick and Adam today and ask You to bless them. Bless our church and pour out blessing on our church in this season of drought. Be with my wife today, and refresh her. Fill her with Your spirit and joy.
Amen.

God's Provision
Zechariah 4; Zechariah 5; Zechariah 6; Luke 12
Scripture:
Luke 12: 6Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. 7Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Luke 12: 23Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!
Luke 12: 35"Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, 36like men waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him.
Observation:
Jesus reminds us that God is our source and He takes cares of His children. He takes cares of the birds everyday, all the animals of the land and creatures of the sea are dependant on His provision. God will take care of me. I should spend more time being concerned about His kingdom and people than about my own needs. God has my needs covered, I can rest in that, as it is His promise.
Application:
Today I am reminded that what matters to God is the people I reach for Him. He has my every need already met. I can rest in Him and be about His business. I pray today that my faith in God as provider would elevate to a supernatural level. There are still so many to reach with the message of Jesus Christ. We live in a time where the economy is touch, where housing and gas is so expensive, but God promises to take care of us. The opportunity to minister to the lost will increase as they seek for peace in these times. May I be one that is about my Fathers business in these times. May I worry more about the lost than my bank account. God will take care of me, that is His job, mine is clear, preach the good news.
Prayer:
Father thank You for the reminder that You know my needs and that You promise to take care of me. I pray today for a new level of faith and supernatural provision to get the job done. Lord there are so many to reach and so little time. I pray for new doors to open and new connections to be made. I pray for wisdom in this time and direction. I pray that Your House would be built and that many would come to receive You as Lord and Savior. Bless my team with good rest today. Thank You for all Your blessings in my life. I am truly blessed.
Amen.

Keeping God First
Haggai 1; Haggai 2; Psalm 129; Luke 10
Scripture:
Haggai 1: 3 Then the word of the LORD came through the prophet Haggai: 4 "Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin?"
Haggai 2: 9 'The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,' says the LORD Almighty. 'And in this place I will grant peace,' declares the LORD Almighty."
Observation:
God rebukes Israel for forgetting to keep the house of the Lord first. They got so wrapped up in their own needs that they forgot the needs of God. They forgot that He was there source and started to look to the land for provision. God cuts their crops and the rain does not fall. The Israelites remember God’s faithfulness and the immediately go about restoring the House of the Lord. God forgives them and He promises to fill the house with His glory, greater than ever before. This would mean blessings and increase.
Application:
This passage is a reminder to keep God first in all I do. It speaks to especially today in the building of urgency. A few days ago God spoke to me in my journal about keeping Him first and the reminder that He gives the increase. Last Friday was one of our best nights and again I give the glory to God because my faith was directed towards Him and not my abilities. I pray that urgency becomes greater than ever before because of the glory of the Lord. I pray that the later house is greater than the former and the Lord is high and lifted up. I am reminded today that it starts with me and my leadership of keeping God first in everything we do. At the end of it all, it is not about me, but all about Him. May I move more and more move to the back stage and may He, the true King, be found at the front of the stage. That is the prayer of my heart.
Prayer:
Father I stand before You tonight and pray that a change would happen in my heart. Help me to one that is more concerned about Your needs than mine. Forgive me for making it about me and my ego. In the words of Paul, “I count myself crucified with Christ.” Help to live our my devotion and dedication to You. I pray for urgency and pray that we never loose sight of the fact that it is all about You. I pray that the later house would far extend the glory of the former. I pray that all the glory will go to You. Help lead this change. Start in me. I pray for wisdom to lead with this kind of heart, to point leaders and student to You. Bless urgency and make us a blessing. I pray for tomorrow’s message and ask You to use me for Your glory.
Amen.

The Lord Builds the House
Ezra 4; Psalm 113; Psalm 127; Luke 9
Scripture :
Psalm 127: 1 Unless the LORD builds the house,
its builders labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city,
the watchmen stand guard in vain.
Observation:
This morning I am reminded that it is the Lord that builds the house. We are His hands, His feet and His mouthpiece, but still it is He Who builds the house.
Application:
I am reminded this morning that the increase will come through the divine work of the Lord. Yes we must be creative, yes we must be cutting edge, yes we must work hard, but still there needs to be a desperate faith to see the Lord bring in the harvest. I read a bit of Brian Houston’s blog this morning and was reminded of the incredible passion and faith he walks in. The Lord has truly built Hillsong into a major world culture changer. Is there anything special about them. No we serve the same God. I am believing God to do great things at urgency and Jubilee. I believe that we can move mountains and touch nations. I believe that our youth services are going to be packed out and that we are going to become a great movement in our city. I pray that we will always remember that the Lord builds the house.
Prayer:
Lord, I pray today for You to build the house. Build the youth ministry at Jubilee. I pray for favor and wisdom to lead the next generation. Lord I pray for mighty breakthroughs at urgency and that we truly will see a harvest of young souls. Bless tonight’s services. I pray for visitors to be touched and moved. I pray that they would have such a great time and desire to connect to the family of urgency. I pray for the alter call and for the right words, Yours. May every non-believer come to faith tonight in Jesus name. Bless all our urgency Volunteer leaders, refresh them today and use them tonight.
Amen.

Two Powerful Reminders
Ezra 2; Ezra 3; Luke 8
Scripture:
Luke 6: 15But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.
Luke 6: 46But Jesus said, "Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me."
Observation:
These are two well-known passages in the bible. Jesus talks about the word of God in reference to a farmer sowing seed. Any farmer knows that you have got to sow seed on good ground to reap a harvest. The second scripture is from the story of the woman with an issue of blood that pressed through the crowd to get her healing. Her faith produced a miracle and got the attention of Jesus.
Application:
Again today I am reminded of two things. My heart must always be ready to receive the word. I must guard against the things that harden the heart, or distract it from allowing the word of God to take root. In my life the distractions are business, stress and even at times vision. Unforgiveness and broken relationships are also things that can and have in the past hardened my heart and resulted in my life not producing a good fruit. The second scripture speaks to me on pressing in when it comes to Jesus. Are my prayers pressing through to Jesus. There were many people around Jesus that day, but only one got His attention, because she pressed in by faith. I feel like my prayer life needs elevation. I feel like I need to pray with a greater level of faith and expectation. I want to see the power of Jesus flowing in and through me. It all starts with my heart this morning, keeping it clean of impurities and hang ups, keeping my heart hungry to see the things of God and the workings of His hands.
Prayer:
Thank You Jesus for the reminder of keeping my heart open and ready to receive Your word. I pray that my life would produce fruit that brings honor and glory to Your Name. I pray today that my heart would not become numb or desensitized to the power of prayer and the Holy Spirit in my life. I pray that I would always pray with faith and expectation. Forgive me for being so casual. I thank You for what You did last night and for using Outcry to lead thousands in worship. I pray for favor on them and for the right doors to open. I pray for tomorrow nights meetings and for every person that has been invited. I pray for a great crowd, an incredible night and most of all for salvations. Lord give us wisdom and favor. I pray for all the first time visitors for the month of September and ask that they come to the dinner tomorrow night. I pray for our dance team and pray that they would dance with passion and honor for You. I pray for Nate and the Game Show and that all the details will work out. I pray for Mel and the discipleship pathway. I pray that we will see tremendous fruit from this. Father bless this day and give me the wisdom and discernment to do Your will.
Amen.

Laying on of Hands.
Daniel 11; Daniel 12; Luke 6
Scripture:
Luke 6: 19 And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them all.
Observation:
Jesus went around healing many and meeting the needs of the people. People sought to touch Him, because power flowed from within Him. This power was the Holy Spirit, as He laid His hands on the sick and the broken, they were healed. There was a power within Him, and that same power is given to those who believe in Him.
Application:
I have been thinking a lot about this, as I have not been laying hands on people. Some say that this is not for today and that church culture has changed. There is a power that is shut up inside of me and it is like ‘fire in my bones’, as the prophet declared. I feel that there is a touched needed for healing. There is a flow of power and a deposit that must be left. Throughout Scripture you see Jesus laying on the sick and a miracle happens. I know that I am filled with the Holy Spirit and the power of God is within me. I must step out and lay hands on the sick and broken, so that the power of the Holy Spirit can touch them. I must not be a hindrance or a blockage to what God wants to do. I pray today for a new level of boldness and conviction to step put and lay hands on the needy, this is not an old time practice, but a relevant, and ordained part of ministry.
Prayer:
Father for give me for holding back for listening to culture that declares that this practice is irrelevant. Touching someone in today’s culture is dangerous and there has been so much damage in the church with sexual perversion and men misusing the power of the Holy Spirit. I pray today that this fear will be removed from me and that I would lay hands as You direct. I pray Holy Spirit for wisdom and discernment, I never want to be a blockage to what You want to do. I hunger to see our youth filled with the Holy Spirit and for a revival to break out. Give me wisdom to lead and vision for the coming months. Help me to lead out of rest and not out of fear or anxiety. I thank You for an incredible week. I pray for fruit this week and for an incredible alter call this Friday, I pray for every visitor coming and that there will be a powerful sense of community and love. Bless all the urgency leaders today and refresh them. Thank You for their hearts and passion to serve. Bless my pastors, Dick and Adam, refresh them today.
Amen.

Preparing my heart for worship
Ezekiel 45; Ezekiel 46; Luke 1
Scripture:
Ezekiel 46: 20 And he said to me, “This is the place where the priests shall boil the trespass offering and the sin offering, and where they shall bake the grain offering, so that they do not bring them out into the outer court to sanctify the people.”
Observation:
There was so much detail in preparation for worship. The priest and the people had to obey the steps set out by the Lord. I love how detailed the steps were and how worship was seen as a holy occasion, may be we have lost this? I wonder have I?
Application:
This mornings journal reading challenged me as I reflected on my worship time. I realized that I do not take enough time to prepare my heart for worship. Ezekiel shows us the detail and the spirit in which worship was done, it was holy. I am challenged to prepare my heart before I worship and to remember that even though the band rocks out, even though there are lights, I must not miss out on the holy moment and the presence of God. I am glad for this gentle rebuke this moment, and challenged to get closer to my God in worship.
Prayer:
Father thank You for this word this morning and the reminder that entering Your presence through worship is a great honor and privilege. The veil has been removed and I can boldly approach Your throne. I must come prepared though and I am glad for this. The price paid for my salvation was heavy. Thank You Jesus for all You have done for me. Thank You for removing the veil and for making it possible for me to come into the presence of my God. I pray for wisdom today and favor. Bless our meetings today and guide every step. I pray for all involved and that Your presence would be strong and Your voice clear. Be with Cindy today as she sings at Dream Center and give her favor and confidence to be who You called her to be. Thank You for the doors that are opening, we know that it is all because of You! Keep our hearts humble and pure, let us not touch Your glory.
Amen.

Heaven and the lost.
Ezekiel 40; Ezekiel 41; Psalm 128; Revelation 21
Scripture:
Revelation 21: 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
6 And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.
Observation:
This passage speaks about heaven and the incredible joy and restoration that will take place. There will be no more tears, no more pain or suffering. God will make all things new and the sin of man and the consequence thereof will be removed forever. No more death, what a thought, no more sin, what a thought. For eternity we will live with our God and be His people.
Application:
This morning as I reflect on heaven, I am reminded that some day I will be there. Jesus made a way for me and He has prepared a place for me. No more tears, pain, suffering and death. What a joy to think of. I have been blessed so much, and the greatest blessing that of being in heaven one day is yet to come. For now though I think of all those who aren’t ready yet. All those who have not given their lives to Jesus, all those that for the moment have the claim of hell over their lives. I think of teenagers this morning in the valley, teenagers at school today who are caught in the traps and bondages of the enemy. There are so many teens lost and hurting this day. May my passion to reach them for Christ increase like never before.
Prayer:
I pray for urgency and for all our students today. I pray for protection and boldness. Protection from the enemy and boldness to be the light. I pray for the urgency students that are struggling in their faith this morning and I ask You Holy Spirit to touch their hearts and to fill them with hope. Protect them angels of the most high. I pray for wisdom and a greatest compassion for the youth of the Bay Area. I pray for our youth leaders and their hearts for the lost. I pray that they would serve with a greater passion too. Lord I pray for the harvest and for the workers. Let the harvest come in. Let the workers be many and let us see a coming revival. Refresh the urgency team, volunteers. Bless all our efforts today.
Amen.

Amen.

Faithful in the Little
Daniel 3; Daniel 4; Psalm 81; Revelation 17
Scripture:
Daniel 3: 17"If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king.18 “But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up."
Daniel 3: 30Then the king caused Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego to prosper in the province of Babylon.
Observation:
In this passage Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego faith in God is tested. They stand in front of a man who declares that he has the authority to save their life’s if they bow down to his image. These guys new the Law of the Leviticus that declared you shall not worship or bow down to any foreign gods. They knew they did not have a choice and that obedience was a must. Their response was beautiful, “even if He does not save us,” these guys were will to die for God. They believed that if it was their time to die for their God, so be it. God saved them and gave them incredible favor before the king which led to incredible prosperity.
Application:
A lot of people want the favor and prosperity of God, but they do not want to pay the price for it. As I think of this passage this morning I challenge myself by asking the question what would I have done? Deep in my heart the answer is simple, I would have done the same. Yet every day in the simple things of life I still wrestle to surrender the little things to God. Jesus said it is the little foxes that spoil the vine. God cares about the little foxes in my life, the little things that steal my obedience and ultimately His blessings from me. These guys were steadfast in their faith. Today my challenge is simple, choose God in the little things. Be like David, fight the lion and the bear first before you face the Goliath’s of this world.
Prayer:
Father thank You for this world today and the reminder that the little things that steal my obedience are important to You. Forgive me for the little attitudes, for the little out bursts of anger, for the little lusting of material things, for the little pride that sneaks in here and there. Forgive me for allowing these things and for not saying no when I see them. Lord create in me a clean heart and a right spirit. Let me be one that does not defile himself with the little nor the big things of life. I thank You today for grace and forgiveness. Thank You for the many blessings You have bestowed on me. I pray today for breakthrough in my life. I pray for favor and vision. I pray for financial miracles and blessings so that I may become a greater blessing to others. Thank You for favor and wisdom with all my meetings today. I pray for breakthrough and healing for tonight’s service. I pray for salivations and re-dedications. I pray that every volunteer is touched and refreshed. I pray for miracles and chains to be removed. I pray this all because it is Your will, and I declare that God will have His way. Father be with my pastors, Dick and Adam. Refresh them and strengthen them. Give them the wisdom and faith of Solomon and David. I pray for our church and ask You to bless it and raise it up. Father, make Jubilee a light to the nations. I come against every negative word spoken over out church. I pray for financial breakthrough for our congregation and families. May Jubilee become a greater blessing to the nations. Bless my wife and friends. Refresh all of them with Your Holy Spirit.
Amen

God's Goodness
Lamentations 3; Lamentations 4; Lamentations 5; Revelation 15
Scripture:
Lamentations 3: 21This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.
22The LORD'S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
23They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
24"The LORD is my portion," says my soul,
"Therefore I have hope in Him."
25The LORD is good to those who wait for Him,
To the person who seeks Him.
Observation:
Jeremiah remembers the goodness of the Lord, His mercies; His compassion; and His faithfulness. God is our portion and He is always ear to those who seek Him with a pure and humble heart.
Application:
I have prayed this many a time to the Lord when I was in a dark season of my life. God is always my light and my salvation. He is faithful, compassionate, faithful and loving. God is a good God, and I am reminded this morning that I am so blessed and it is all because of Him. Where would I be in God was not in my life? I am glad that I do nor have to ponder on this, as I know the answer would be simply lost. My life would be empty and meaningless. God is my portion and He is my destiny. I am His and He is mine. I am s blessed and pray that my heart would be focused on the goodness. May I live out of His mercies and goodness each day.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for a new day and new mercies. I pray for wisdom today to lead and accomplish the work set before me. Help me today and guide my steps. I pray for urgency this morning and ask You to bless every student and leader this day. I pray for my team today and ask You to raise us to another level. Bless my wife, pastor and family. Fill them with Your love, peace and joy. Bless them and make them a blessing. Thank You for Your love and faithfulness, even in the midst of darkness You are faithful. I am so blessed to be Yours. Amen,

Keeping God First
Lamentations 1; Lamentations 2; Obadiah 1; Revelation 14
Scripture:
Revelations 14: 6 And I saw another angel flying in midheaven, having an eternal gospel to preach to those who live on the earth, and to every nation and tribe and tongue and people; 7 and he said with a loud voice, "Fear God, and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come; worship Him who made the heaven and the earth and sea and springs of waters."
Observation:
Revelation is an interesting book in the bible. Every time one reads it, something new is revealed. This morning I am reminded that God is to be worshipped, exalted and feared, for there is none like Him. This seems so simple and obvious to believers, but to often it is forgotten in our lifestyles.
Application:
This morning I am reminded to keep God first in every part of my life. In my thoughts life, my words, my actions, my behaviors, my finances, my relationships and my heart. It is so easy to get wrapped up in the church world and miss out on the presence and will of God. A I reflect on the past few weeks, I realize that I have been busy with the things of God, but not busy with Him. I sense a lack in my life and I know this it all to well, I miss the touch of my Jesus. I am so blessed this morning to hear the voice of my Shepherd calling me home. I am so blessed this morning to come back to the heart of worship. I am so blessed this morning to bath in the presence of my Lord and to have my heart washed and restored. This is a new day for me and I will rejoice in all that He has done for me.
Prayer:
God, You are faithful and Your love for me is so amazing. I am blessed today to hear Your voice calling me. Forgive me for running so far ahead of You and for missing out on the opportunities to sit with You. I pray for wisdom to restructure my life and my relationships. Thank You for grace this morning and the restoration work of Your Holy Spirit. I pray for wisdom and discernment to lead in a manner that points others to You. I pray that I would be still today and wait on You. Thank You for Your hand over my life. I pray for urgency today and ask You to bless every leader and student. Refresh them with Your love and presence. I pray for miracles for those in need. I pray for breakthroughs for those who are bound, and healing for those who are hurting. Lord open the eyes of our youth and help them to see You today. Thank You for the urgency team and help each of us to do Your will. Bless Pastor Dick and Adam. Give them favor and wisdom. Bless their homes and family. I pray for my wife today and ask You to protect her, to fill her with Your presence and songs and to give her the energy to walk the steps before her.
Amen.

God is my Stronghold
Jeremiah 42; Jeremiah 43; Jeremiah 44; Psalm 48; Revelation 13
Scripture:
Psalm 48: 3 God, in her palaces,
Has made Himself known as a stronghold.
Observation:
This passage declares the majesty of God and the power of His name. God is Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent. There is none like Him and never will be. He is a tower of refuge to those who place their faith in Him.
Application:
God is my strength and my rock. He is forever faithful and He is always near. The world will always try to redirect my faith towards things it can offer. But the things of this world are temporal and shallow. They have no true weight and foundation. Only God is a rock and stronghold. Only He knows what the future holds and where He wants to take me. I must guard from the temptations of this world and the desire to lead my life. I must daily choose to surrender my will to His, for He is my King. Today is a good day, I have finished my break from journaling, and the word today is clear, keep your focus on Your stronghold, Jesus.
Prayer:
Father thank You for this word and reminder that You are faithful. There is none like You in all the world and never been. I praise You for Your faithfulness and grace. I ask You to refresh my spirit with Your love and anointing. Fill me afresh with Your joy, peace and love. I am glad to be in Your word today and pray that my heart would be set like flint towards You. Fill me with wisdom to lead today and this week. Lord there is so much to do and I pray for strategy and guidance. Bless my team and refresh them today. Bless my wife to and refresh her also.
Amen.
