Attitudes and Behaviours

Amos 7; Amos 8; Amos 9; Psalm 104; Titus 2

Scripture:
Titus 2: 6 Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded, 7 in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, 8 sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.

Observation:
This passage defines how the church, the body of Christ, should behave. Older / Mature Christians should mentor the younger / immature Christians in the things of God. They are to model these behaviors and attitudes themselves. God desire that no one should point a finger towards us and shame us over our behaviors or attitudes, our faith in Christ and calling as children of God should always draw others to salvation.

Application:

As I reflect on this passage today, I am remind that there is still so much growth needed in my life. There are still so many immaturities that pop up every now and then. I know God is calling me to grow up and to mentor the young in Christ under me. It all starts with me and the state of my heart. I am starting to grasp Proverbs 4, where Solomon calls us to guard our heart for it is the wellspring of life. When my heart is polluted, my attitudes and behaviors are selfish and pride governs me. I must guard my heart and allow the Holy Spirit to search my heart for anything that does not line up with the will of God for me. I so desperately want to see the power of God flow through my life and I know it comes with a price, that of righteousness. It is not that I earn the gift of God or the anointing, but it is the lifestyle of responsibility that comes with it. I am challenged today to walk in integrity, to speak with humility and to esteem others higher than myself. I do not want any men to point a finger at my life, I want people to see Jesus in me.

Prayer:
Father thank You for this word today and the reminder that it all starts with my heart. I thank You for forgiveness and the cleansing of my heart today. I thank You for the righteousness of God that flows over my life because of the blood of Jesus. I ask You to help me grow in the areas I am weak and to renew a right spirit in me. I want to please You in every area of my life. I pray today for urgency and ask You to do a great work. I pray ahead for the missions trips and ask for a young warrior like spirit group to come back. Lord I pray for every volunteer leader and ask for You to touch them and bless them. Thank You for the incredible leaders that we have at urgency. Bless them and fill them with Your love and peace. I pray for the next school year and every event we have planned. I pray for favor and wisdom to lead. Give us wisdom and favor to touch thousands. Be with my wife today and touch her body. Refresh her and give her energy. Thank You for the incredible calling You have placed in front of me. I am honored and ready to do your will.
Amen

Jonah's Repentance

Jonah 1; Jonah 2; Jonah 3; Jonah 4; 2 Timothy 2

Scripture:
Jonah 2: 9 But I, with a song of thanksgiving,
will sacrifice to you.
What I have vowed I will make good.
Salvation comes from the LORD."

10 And the LORD commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.

Observation:
I love the true repentance of Jonah. He disobeyed God because of his fear for the city of Nineveh. He is honest before the sailors and takes responsibility for their situation. Jonah is a great leader, a man that has integrity and deep love for the Lord, but his insecurity causes him to stray. This passage reveals Jonah’s heart for the Lord. Sitting in a whales belly he comes to a place of repentance and declares the salvation power of the Lord. God delivers him and Jonah is restored back to his calling.

Application:
Jonah repentance is a great passage for any Christian. Jonah thanks for the Lord His goodness and makes a new vow to follow Him. So many people take repentance lightly, even me at times. Jonah’s repentance challenges me to guard my heart from taking God’s forgiveness lightly. Jesus paid a heavy price for my sins and forgiveness. I want to be a leader with a pure heart before God and others. In his book, ‘Practicing the Presence of God’ brother Lawrence talks about starting and ending the day with repentance and the searching of ones heart. He was a man that walked close with God and it was all because the state of his heart.

Prayer:
Father I thank You for the incredible gift of grace and mercy that You always give to me. I am blessed to be Your child and I recognize the incredible price paid for my salvation and forgiveness. I ask You to reveal anything in my heart today that is not of You. I want my heart to be right before You and others. I pray today for the fundraisers this weekend and ask for incredible favor and blessing. I pray for a financial miracle and that many kids will have the opportunity to go on a missions trip. Thank You for last nights leaders meeting, I pray for a spirit of unity to grow in our leadership team. Thank You for all the leaders that volunteer their time at urgency. Lord help us do all the things we need to do today. I pray for pastor Dick and ask You to heal his allergies. Bless him with good rest and be with him as he does the funeral today.
Amen

Stirring up the Gift

Joel 1; Joel 2; Joel 3; 2 Timothy 1

Scripture:
2 Timothy 1: 6For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

2 Timothy 1: 14Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.

Observation:

Paul encourages Timothy to stir up the gift inside of him which was given to him through the laying on of hands. He reminds Timothy that the Lord did not give him a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. He reminds Timothy too, that he is to guard this gift and steward it with integrity and responsibility.

Application:
The devil does not care if I go to heaven, as long as I do not use the gift God has given to me to change the lives around me. I must guard my heart from the temptations of this world, also from people and things that want to keep me down. God has not given me a spirit of fear, but rather a spirit of power, love and a sound mind. I must preach, teach, serve, love and lead with power, love and a sound mind. The other day God told me to rise up, again this morning the same word stands out for me. It is time to rise up and lead, it is time to stand strong for the youth of the nation. I must stand strong in righteousness, which comes from Christ, integrity and faithfulness. Paul reminds Timothy to guard this gift through the help of the Holy Spirit. I need the guidance of the Holy Spirit in my life. I need His voice to lead me. This day I am glad and honored to be a part of the kingdom of God. I stir up the gift inside of me by faith and I dream of big things. I pray for a revival in the hearts of the youth of San Jose. May we see miracles and thousands of youth touched by Jesus!

Prayer:
Father I pray for wisdom and discernment to lead today. I pray for favor and anointing. I pray for discipline and integrity to rule my heart. Help me to stand strong in a world that is crumbling everyday. I want to me a leader to the youth around me, I want to be a representative of the love of Jesus Christ. I pray for favor today and ask You to guide me in the ways and plans You have for me. Bless this day and may it be a fruitful one. Bless the leaders meeting today and may it be a time of fun and great fellowship. I pray for focus, peace and vision.
Bless my wife and I pray for continued favor and blessing. Open the right doors for her and outcry. Be with my mom back home an comfort her in her time of loss. Thank You this day that I can come to You with these requests, You truly care about me. I love You Lord! Amen.

A Challenge from Paul

2 Kings 11; 2 Kings 12; 2 Chronicles 24; 1 Timothy 6

Scripture:
1Timothy 6: 11But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. 12Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

Observation:
Paul ends his letter with a call to godliness. He challenges young Timothy his protégé to righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. He reminds him too that he is in a spiritual battle and that things will sometimes be tough. The greatest thing Timothy can hold onto is his salvation, the promise of eternal life with Jesus Christ in heaven.

Application:
Paul gives Timothy a strong challenge at the end of this letter. He calls him to step up and evaluate his heart. God is seeking righteousness, godliness, faith, love and gentleness. I hear Him challenging me to the same. I am so thankful for the blood of Jesus this morning and the power it has to cleanse me f my sins, attitudes and selfishness. I know there is still so much I me that needs to change. There is still so much sin in my heart and at times I stop and feel like a failure before my God. Then I am reminded of the work of the cross, the grace and mercy offered to me. As I think on this, I am amazed and reminded that there is none like God and never will be. I am still a work in progress and He is patient with me. As I reflect on my life, I can see a lot of growth. There have been so many changes in my life, and I can see the hand of God. This morning I pray is simple, God cleanse me of my sin, attitude and selfishness. Work into me righteousness, godliness, faith, love and gentleness. “Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence oh Lord. “

Prayer:
Father thank You for the incredible power of the blood of Jesus Christ. I can feel my heart cleansed already. There is none like You, You are patient with me and Your love and mercies are new everyday. Lead me today and guide me in the steps You have planned for me. I pray for wisdom, discernment and peace. Help me to lead the team this week and I pray for an incredible productive week. I pray for the funs raisers we are doing for missions and ask You to speak to individuals. I pray for a miracle amount of funds to come in. Make a way for students to go.
I pray for my family back home and ask You to comfort them and fill their hearts with peace. I pray for my pastors this day, Pastor Dick and Adam and ask You to bless them and fill them with wisdom. Be with my wife and guide her every step. Open and close doors as You choose. Lead her to the right people for her cd I pray. I also pray for every adult leader this day and ask You to bless them and refresh them. Cause them to walk in the Your favor and blessing.
Amen.

Respecting Elders

2 Kings 10; 2 Chronicles 22; 2 Chronicles 23; 1 Timothy 5

Scripture:
1 Timothy 5: 1Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he were your father. Treat younger men as brothers, 2older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity.

Observation:
This passage speaks a lot on respect and attitude. We are called to treat each other in love and live in a spirit of unity.

Application:
This passage challenges me personally and as a leader. As a leader it is my job to mentor youth in this principle. Today’s youth are so independent and rebellious, culture pushes them this way. Their hearts are hardened to the generation above them. I must start with myself. I must model and live out this kind of love and respect myself. As the youth see me doing this, it will encourage them to live this way. God blesses unity and obedience. This passage simply reminds to me that a Christian has a heart for all people, and that this love is lived out in attitude and behavior. Serving those older than you will reveal Jesus in your life.

Prayer:
Father thank You for this passage and reminder that I must always live heart first. Even as a young pastor I am looked upon as inexperienced and sometimes judged by my age. The truth is that my age is of no concern. My calling comes from You and is in You. I pray that my words to those older than me will always be seasoned with the salt of love and humility. I never want to be seen as arrogant or prideful. I pray that I would be a great role model for the youth I lead. I pray for urgency today and I pray for a generation to emerge that loves and lives for You. Bless our youth this day. I pray for every missions packet that went out yesterday and ask that You speak to the hearts of the people. I pray for a financial miracle and that all the spots will be filled. Thank You Father. Bless the urgency staff today and refresh them. I pray for wisdom to lead them in this season of business. I pray that this week will be a favorable one.
Amen

Faith in God for Big Things

2 Kings 6; 2 Kings 7; 2 Chronicles 20; 1 Timothy 3

Scripture:
2 Chronicles 20: 20 Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the LORD your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful." 21 After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise him for the splendor of his [d] holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying:
"Give thanks to the LORD,
for his love endures forever."

Observation:
Great leaders always lead people in the midst of option. They point people to God and challenged them to not be motivated by fear but to rather step out in faith and see the victory. God is moved by faith and He is pleased when we trust Him.

Application:
I need to be one that always calls out the victory that comes through faith in God. God is more than able to do miracles but desires that His people would cry out to Him in faith. As a leader I must rise up in times of opposition and point people to the miracle working power of God. A good godly leader realizes that the breakthrough will only come through the miracle working power of God. As I look to the coming months, I see big things planned, a lot of faith released and now I call on the Lord by faith to anoint and release favor on all we do.

Prayer:

Father thank You for this word and reminder that You have called me to lead with a heart devoted and fueled by faith in You. I pray today for favor and breakthrough for urgency and ask that You will bring a revival to urgency and an incredible harvest of souls. Bless my wife and the cd project. I ask for favor and if it is Your will for a great connection. If it is not of You make it clear and open the right door. I pray for tomorrow and all the things going on. I pray for favor in fundraising and ask that people will be stirred to give. You are our source and I declare that. Thank You for every need met.
Amen.

Seeking Counsel From God

1 Kings 22; 2 Chronicles 18; 2 Chronicles 19; Colossians 4

Scripture:
1 Kings 22: 4 So he asked Jehoshaphat, "Will you go with me to fight against Ramoth Gilead?"
Jehoshaphat replied to the king of Israel, "I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses." 5 But Jehoshaphat also said to the king of Israel, "First seek the counsel of the LORD."

Observation:

Jehoshaphat was a wise man, he would not move until the counsel of the Lord was sought. The king of Israel hated Micaiah, because in his eyes Micaiah’s prophecies were always negative. They did not head the word of the prophet and the king of Israel dies.

Application:
How many times do I stop to seek the counsel of the Lord in my life? Sad to say not enough. I know I have developed the discipline of listening to the Holy Spirit, but sometimes more than that is needed. A time of separating myself and stopping to hear the word of the Lord. A time of cutting out the noise and waiting till the Lord speaks. I need this discipline in my life. It seems like life is to busy, but the reality is that it is not a value in my life. I believe it I made it a value, a non-negotiable, then I would see this discipline more in my life. The truth is simple, I can save myself so much time and energy if I learn to stop and seek the Lord. It is enough to go on my heart, because sometimes my heart can be out of tune with the Holy Spirit.

Prayer:
Father I pray today for a wise mind and heart. One that realizes the value of separation and quiet time. My position is one of incredible responsibility and it requires me to stop and seek counsel from You often. Lord I thank You that You are in control and You lead me. I pray for wisdom for today and favor. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit in me. Thank You for favoring my friend Nate and I pray for favor today for him. I pray for this week and our new series, Father use it and touch many lives. I pray for wisdom and discernment with Outcry and their future. Guide us in the right path and protect hearts. May we follow closely the steps You have layout before us. Father be with Pa and Derick and bless their work, give them favor like never before. I pray for Mom and Dad and I ask You to give them wisdom and peace with their decisions. Make a way for them.
Amen

Audience of One

1 Kings 20; 1 Kings 21; 2 Chronicles 17; Colossians 3

Scripture:
Colossians 3: 23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Observation:
Paul reminds us to do everything we do as unto the Lord, for our hearts desire should be to please Him and Him alone. He should be the motivation of all we do.

Application:
Pastor Wayne translates this passage excellently, “Do all you do for an Audience of One!” The reality is that man s fallen and seeks approval. It is so easy to get wrapped up in seeking the approval of man and that road continues to lead one down the road of insecurity. When God is the motivation and pleasing Him the goal, the approval of man will decrease and an inner peace will fill one hearts. In my life God has been healing this and my goal is to do all for Him. One day my reward will be in heaven and that is where I want it to be. Scripture says that if men applaud you, then you have received your reward. I want my reward to be in heaven, so that I can take it and lay it at the feet of Jesus, Who has been so good to me.

Prayer:

Father thank You for this passage and reminder today to keep my focus on You. Forgive me for the times where I make it al about man and not You. I pray for continued healing in the need for affirmation. I know that Your affirmation and word over me in the best. Father lead me today and refresh me. I pray for energy to make it through this day. Be with my wife today and bless her. I pray for continued favor and opening of doors. Be with every student of urgency today and bless them. Keep them close to You.
Amen

Obedience and Thoughts

1 Kings 17; 1 Kings 18; 1 Kings 19; Colossians 2

Scripture:

1 Kings 17: 12 "As surely as the LORD your God lives," she replied, "I don't have any bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it—and die."13 Elijah said to her, "Don't be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small cake of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. 14 For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD gives rain on the land.' " 15 She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family. 16 For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the LORD spoken by Elijah.

Observation:
God sends Elijah to minister to a woman in need. This woman is preparing to die, as they have no food or money left. They are down and out. Elijah comes to the this woman and gives her a word from the Lord. He calls her to an act of obedience that would result in an incredible blessing. She obeys and the blessing of God is released in her life. A miracle too follows shortly after.

Application:
What is God calling me to? What act of obedience is He is asking me to do? What stands in the way of my blessing that requires me to obey by faith? I stand today realizing that I need the favor of God, I need His provision, I need His blessing to become all that He has called me to be. Today I know that God is calling me to evaluate my thought life and to become more disciplined in my thinking. The bible says as I man thinks, so he is. I want my thoughts to honor God and to please Him. I know this act of obedience will produce incredible breakthroughs for me. God is calling me to a higher level of accountability and integrity.

Prayer:

Father I hear Your word to me today and I respond with a Yes! Yes I will obey and filter my thoughts through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I want a mind that hears the deep thoughts of the Lord. Guide me today and lead me in Your ways. I pray for wisdom and discernment today. Father thank You for forgiveness and grace. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Thank You again for Your love and words over my life. I pray for blessings, favor and provision. I pray for your blessing over my wife and her calling. Open the doors for her. I pray for this week and ask You to give me wisdom to handle all the business of this week.
Amen.

Live for Jesus, die in the little things

Philippians 1

Scripture:
Philippians 1: 21For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

Observation:
Paul is writing from prison to the church in Philippi. He encourages them for their faith and thanks them for their continued prayers and support. Paul is ready to die for the gospel if needed, even though he feels that he is not yet finished doing what the Lord has called him to do. He challenges the Philippians to unity and the cause of Christ. I love how Paul stands strong in the midst of death.

Application:
Paul didn’t just preached the gospel, he lived it. He was so passionate about the Lord and the church that he was willing to lay down his life if necessary. He does not lose focus sitting in a prison cell, no rather he sees the opportunity of reaching the prison guards for Jesus. I am so challenged by Paul’s boldness and faith. I wonder if I would have done the same or would I have been one that would have complained and been bitter towards God?
I want the maturity of Paul in my life. I want to be able to declare 100% that to live is Christ and to die is gain. I know that this is in me, but to be honest my life is so comfortable. I worry about whether my coffee is hot enough or losing weight, or whether I have saved enough money to buy a nice watch. I don’t face the giants people in third world countries face. I don’t worry about where my next meal is coming from, or whether I have to hide for life from radicals or militants, no these are not the things I face. This morning though I declare by faith that to live is Christ and to die is gain. I choose this day to die to the little things like attitude, selfishness and things of this world. I choose to say let Jesus Christ be lifted on high in my life. He is my goal; He is my everything!

Prayer:

Father my life is so blessed. I am thankful for where I am, but pray that I would steward my life wisely. I want my life to count, I want it to matter, I want to touch lives for You, I want to hear You say, “Well done good and faithful servant.” Lord I pray for wisdom today to lead well and to finish well the tasks you have set before me. Lord I pray for wisdom to lead, favor rot stand before your people and anointing to see lives changed, I know all these come from You. I know that apart from You I can do nothing. Lord open the doors. I pray for the Reach trips today and ask You to open the doors and bring the finances. I pray for finances to flow and for us to reach out goals and that lives would be touched. Lord I need You to do a miracle for us. Thank You for the opportunity. Father make a way. I pray for my friend Josh today and ask You to give him faith and wisdom. Give him faith to dream big, and wisdom to make the right decisions. I pray that You would place him in arena’s he has never dreamed of. Father thank You for the opportunity to speak into his life, help me to steward this opportunity with integrity, humility and discernment. Bless my friend and his house I pray. I pray for my wife today. I pray that You would do a miracle for her and open the doors for her. May she run with boldness and favor. I pray for the a miracle this month for her and her team. Father You know their hearts for You. They are ready but need You to make a way. Give us peace in this season. I thank You that You work all things out.
Father I pray for favor with parents today and ask for our missions meetings to be a huge success. Father start a missions revival here at urgency.
Amen.

Preach Fearlessly

Song of Solomon 1; Song of Solomon 2; Song of Solomon 3; Song of Solomon 4; Ephesians 6

Scripture:
Ephesians 6: 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

Observation:
Paul writes this letter to the church of Ephesus from prison. Chapter 6 is the chapter on spiritual warfare the amour of God. Paul asks for prayer, he desires to preach the words of God fearlessly. He knows he will stand before great men and he wants the words of God to flow boldly out of his mouth.

Application:
I too desire to preach the fresh words of God boldly. I desire to see the Word of God preached in a way that moves people beyond their comfort into the presence of God. I desire to see the word ignite the fires of revival. I too need to be like Paul and speak fearlessly. My words must be powerful, fresh from the throne of God, and seasoned with compassion. The church is a lion, it is powerful and called to be the king of this world. The church needs to be like in the days of Solomon, full of wisdom; like the days of David, full of integrity; like the Days of Acts, full of miracles and salvations; like the days of Jesus, full of compassion and meeting the needs of the hurting. I want to see urgency and our young adults touch the world. I want to see a revival of souls. Change starts with me first…

Prayer:
Father thank You for this world and for the truth that it starts with me. Help me Lord to move ever closer to the will and plan You have for me today. I pray for favor and anointing, because I know that without these I will never see the vision You have shown me. I pray the urgency staff and ask You to anoint them and refresh them. Fill them with vision and purpose. Give us creativity, passion, energy and vision. Help us to run like never before. I pray for a fresh move of God at urgency. I pray for the old urgency to die and for the new wine skin to emerge. Help me to step out in the gifts You have given me. I pray that I walk in the anointing You have given me. Father give me wisdom today to lead, because I know without You wisdom I cannot do Your will. Guard my tongue and my mind from selfish things. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Be with my wife today and refresh her. Help her to finish her project with excellence. I pray for favor on this project and for those who will hear it. I ask You to open big doors, not so that we can glorify ourselves, but Father that the nations will open for us to do Your work. Father without Your favor and presence when they listen we know it will not work. So go before us and prepare the hearts of those will listen. Give them a vision of what You have called Cindy and the Team too. I ask all this in Your name.
amen

Living for God

Ecclesiastes 10; Ecclesiastes 11; Ecclesiastes 12; Psalm 94; Ephesians 5

Scripture:

Ephesians 5: 1 Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Observation:

Paul reminds the church of Ephesus to imitate the life of Christ. Jesus Christ is our role model and we are to live a lifestyle that points others to Him. A lifestyle of serving; compassion and sacrifice. This kind of lifestyle pleases the Lord.

Application:
As I read this passage this morning I am reminded that this kind of a lifestyle stems from a heart fully devoted to God. Paul talks of love, sacrifice and offering, this stems from a heart devoted to God. How is my heart this morning towards the Lord. I feel like I need a 1 degree alignment back the heart of my God. I feel like business and the lifestyles of those around me have driven me a little away from God. What is God showing me? What is He calling me too? I feel like God has a higher standard He is calling me too. One of devotion and obedience, one that does not let the little foxes come in and cause destruction. I hear You Lord, I see what You are calling me too. My response is yes! Holy Spirit help me, guide me to this place.

Prayer:
Father I pray for greater discernment and a higher vantage point. I tend to be limited in my vision. Father I desire to please You and live for You. I want my life to be a sweet aroma and blessing towards You. Be with me in this season and guide me with Your hand. Protect my heart and mind from the things around me that hold me down. Father focus my vision on You and You alone. Make me sharp, purposeful and anoint me to stand before thousands. I do not want to stand as me, but I desire to stand as one that has been sent of the Lord. I want to be marked by the Holy Spirit. Lord there is so much to do this coming week, and so I ask You to help us work at an incredible rate to get things done. Thank You for the team and help us to achieve many things. Amen

Paul's Prayer

Proverbs 30; Proverbs 31; Psalm 33; Ephesians 1

Scripture:
Ephesians 1: 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe.

Observation:
Paul prays for the church of Ephesus and he prays an powerful prayer of faith, revelation, purpose, passion and peace. Paul prayed that they would know Jesus Christ and fully grab onto everything that He did for the through the cross. He pray that the power of Jesus Christ would change their lives and that they would live in that power.

Application:
This passage challenges me to look at my life and ask three questions.
1. How well do I know Jesus Christ? Am I doing what He has called me to do?
2. What is the Holy Spirit trying to show me? Am I looking in the right direction?
3. Am I living out of the blessings, inheritance and power that Jesus Christ gave to me?

As I reflect on these questions, the answer is pretty mediocre and the reason is simple. Business is stealing my focus and causing me to miss out on all God has for me. I do not need the devil to spend all his time on me, no business is already doing his job. I must slow down ad that is hard. We live in such a fast paced world and it is hard to stop. I have to learn to leave work at home and take time to reflect and allow the Holy Spirit to check my heart. God has given me so much, He wants to do so much in my life. As Paul put it today in Ephesians 1, He has chosen me and has a plan for me. I do not want to miss His plan. I want to be in the epicenter of what God is doing in my life. I do not want to miss our on all His blessings.

Prayer:
Father I pray like Paul prayed in the book of Ephesians 1. Holy Spirit open my eyes and mind to the things of God. Bring revelation, wisdom and knowledge into my life. Help m to fully grasp what Jesus Christ has done for me. Lead me inn the path and plan God has for my life today. Help me to keep my heart right. I pray that my eyes would be off me and more on You. Forgive me for looking to the left or to the right. You have only made one of me, and that in Your mind is enough. Father soften my heart and fill me with Your love. I thank You for the reminder yesterday that it is all about relationships and feeding the sheep. Renew in me a pure heart and create in me a right spirit. Father bless me this day for I know I need Your favor and blessings. Bless our urgency staff and volunteer leaders. Be with every student today at school and protect them. Blessing and Favor of God

Proverbs 28; Proverbs 29; Psalm 60; Romans 16

Scripture:
Proverbs 28: 14 Blessed is the man who always fears the LORD,
but he who hardens his heart falls into trouble.

Proverbs 28: 20 A faithful man will be richly blessed,
but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.

Observation:

These two passages point one to the blessing and favor of God. It all starts with a humble heart and faithfulness to the things of God. Many people want the blessing of God but they do not want the lifestyle of obedience. God is looking at my heart and my faithfulness.

Application:
The book of Proverbs has been challenging the state of my heart. More and more I realize the blessings of God are sown to those whose hearts are humble and who display faithfulness. Why? The answer is simple, God is seeking those who will steward blessing well. See blessing is not just for me, it is for those around me in need. There were a lot of passages today in Proverbs speaking of the righteous taking care of the poor. It is my calling to take care of the poor, needy, hurting and lost of this world. That was the call of Jesus and that is the call for all the saints of God. I can see an incredible season of blessing coming my way. I can see the Lord opening some incredible doors. I already stand amazed at what He is doing and believe that there is still so much more to come. God is my source and I desire more than ever to help the hurting, needy, poor, lost and broken in San Jose, California, the States and the world. There is so much to do, but I believe that the Lord is going to open the nations. I must keep my heart pure, I must guard my heart from pride and selfishness. I must stay under the Word of God so that the Word can judge me and correct me. I want to be found fit the calling God has on my life.

Prayer:

Father thank You for the many blessings on my life. I know the favor comes from You and I know that to succeed in the vision You have given me, I will need Your favor and blessing. Father thank You for guiding me. Thank You for the calling and plans You have for my life. Thank You for the people I work with and the team that I serve with, and the pastor I work under. I am so blessed. Father I pray today for my wife and ask You to give her peace and wisdom. I know that You are opening big doors for her and I ask for wisdom and clarity. We know that in You we are safe and that You will open and shut the doors. Bless her for her faithfulness. I pray for Pa and Derick today on the farms and ask You to bless them. Give them favor with prices and bless the crops. Make a way for them to live the dreams and visions You have given them. Bless them for their faithfulness and hard work.
I pray for favor today and wisdom. Help me to achieve all the things You have set before me today.
Amen

Honor and Respect Your Leaders

Proverbs 25; Proverbs 26; Proverbs 27; Romans 15

Scripture:
Proverbs 25: 6 Do not exalt yourself in the king's presence,
and do not claim a place among great men;

7 it is better for him to say to you, "Come up here,"
than for him to humiliate you before a nobleman.

Observation:

Solomon reminds us that humility will put one in the presence of greatness. Never exalt yourself, for in doing so you will come short and be made out as a fool. Respect those of higher position than yourself. Honor their anointing, and God will promote you in their presence.

Application:
I am learning more and more to honor and learn from the leaders in front of me. I do not always agree with them, but until I am in their shoes, the best thing for me to do is honor and respect them. I can bring my point to them in a mature way, but then it is up to them to do what they will with my suggestion. In the past I would be so arrogant. I would voice and reflect my disagreement with their final decision and this quiet frankly was a lack of respect for the office God placed them in. I will not always agree with my leaders, and those under me will not always agree with me. If I cannot submit to my leader, how will those under me submit to me? Pastor Gary reminded me that leader above me see at a higher vantage point. They see things I do not see, and so I must trust the Lord that He is leading them and that they are hearing His voice. If not then God, then I am reminded that God is still in control and He is working it out. As for me the word today is pretty simple; “Honor and Respect the anointing of all leaders, whether above or below me in the leadership chain.” A good leader honors and respects leaders below him. Why? They need to be mentored in this too. How is my heart for my Pastors? Am I respecting and honoring their anointing? I believe I am.

Prayer:
Thank You Father for the reminder that leadership is all about the heart. I pray that I would be one that always honors and respect the leaders that You have placed in front of me. Sometimes I would not do the things that they are doing, but I know that You are in control, and I know that I am not in their shoes. Teach me to learn from the leaders above me, even when I disagree. Teach me to remain humble and share opinions with utter respect. Lord help me lead well today. I need Your guidance and Your voice to lead me. Help me to make wise decisions. I pray for every youth leader to and ask You to bless them and anoint them. I pray for every urgency student today and I ask You to pour out Your anointing on them, protect them and fill them with Your love an peace. Give them a hunger for Your word. Father bless my pastor, give him wisdom, vision, boldness and favor. Thank You for the stand he is taking. Guide his every step. Be with our church and raise us up to bless the nations.
Amen

Wisdom

Proverbs 22; Proverbs 23; Proverbs 24; Romans 14

Scripture:
Proverbs 22: 4 Humility and the fear of the LORD
bring wealth and honor and life.

Proverbs 24: 3 By wisdom a house is built,
and through understanding it is established;

4 through knowledge its rooms are filled
with rare and beautiful treasures.

Observation:

These passages point to prosperity and blessing that come through wisdom, humility and fear of the Lord. God desires to bless His people and to place them in positions of influence and favor. His people will lead His work here on earth and they shall be His ambassadors.

Application
I am learning more and more that the Lord establishes a man. He raises a man up at the right time. At the time that man has learnt to walk in humility, obedience and wisdom. I have so much still to learn. I have so much pride and selfishness to lay down. I know God has something big planned for my life, I have known this for a long time, but there is still so much more required. More training and heart changes to take place. As I reflect tonight on this passage I learn that my house will be blessed when I seek out the wisdom of God and apply it in my life. I pray that my life would become more disciplined and that my mind and heert would soak in all the wisdom it can.

Prayer:
Father there is still so much change needed in my life. Refresh me in this season. Guard my mind and my heart. Lead me and teach me to keep balance. I pray for rest, refreshing and wisdom. I pray for favor and direction. I pray for clarity and the vantage point vision to lead. Help me to lead well. Bless urgency and our students and bless our youth team.
Bless Pastor Dick as he leads our church in this season. Give him wisdom.
Amen
